Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Changes

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed the program that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” he informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
