Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold May Play Against His Former Club in Forthcoming European Match

The English defender in action

The Spanish giants signed Trent Alexander-Arnold with a long-term contract

The defender's comeback is advancing smoothly, raising possibility that the Madrid defender could recover soon enough to face his former club Liverpool in the upcoming Champions League match.

The English international sustained a muscle strain during a match against French club Marseille in the group stage of the competition on September 16.

Alexander-Arnold had to leave the field in the fifth minute, with early indications pointing to a potential layoff of around a month and a half.

Real Madrid are scheduled to face Liverpool on 4 November for the Champions League fixture—just over a month after the injury occurred.

Sources close to the player's condition suggest that the defender's healing process is advancing favorably, and there is expectation that Alexander-Arnold might achieve his initial comeback to Anfield since moving to Los Blancos in June.

A longtime Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold previously said that leaving the team he entered as a young academy player was the "toughest choice he has ever taken."

During his time with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold accumulated 354 games, helping claim two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.

After his transfer to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has appeared on five occasions in all competitions, logging 156 minutes of game time.
