Indeed, it's Full of Absurdity, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. But I Do Adore Meghan's Festive Episode.

No considering the season, it's constantly fair game for criticism on the Meghan Markle's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, both professional and armchair, have hardly ever agreed so completely as when gleefully ripping the program's earlier episodes to pieces. The general consensus held that a more egregious regal scandal had never been witnessed than the notorious pretzel re-packaging incident.

Presently, in the spirit of a holiday maverick, she has returned once again with a "Christmas Special" (also known as a yuletide episode). However on this occasion, it's different. The standard components audiences anticipate – meaningless jargon salads, overzealous entertaining – remain, but framed of a Christmas special, the purpose becomes clear. The puzzle has come together; it's a flawless festive blizzard.

At this stage, Meghan resembles the oddball family member at most festive family gatherings – offering random tips, and delivering the occasional strange exclamation. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and unexpectedly soothing. And she appears pleased; she's causing a bit of damage.

She knows her each tiny facial movement, word and look will be dissected and judged, but manages to seem carefree and serenely untroubled.

It could be this is the first occasion in history where that clichéd phrase – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – could actually be true. The reason is, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is delightful. Yes, it's all awkwardly over-the-top, silliness and flamboyant – but is that not exactly what Yuletide is for? And the talk she's talking might be laughable, but the life she leads appears to be beautifully curated.

Whatever she attempts, she accomplishes with panache. Her culinary efforts looks tasty, the holiday arrangement she creates is stunning, her gifts are practically too exquisite to unwrap. Nothing is average or visually unappealing – even the way she ties her kitchen garment is creative and fashionable. She doesn't bung a meal in the oven, it "takes a twirl", and she creases wrapping paper like an craft master. She also seems to be completely savoring herself the entire time. How could any cynical observer not be convinced, bursting with festive joy and left with a powerful yearning for crafted festive snaps or a crudites platter where greens is positioned in the form of a festive circle?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, of course, but despite that, after the degree of attention she has weathered from the moment she met Prince Harry, a theoretical combination of acting royalty would have difficulty behaving this genuinely. Her unwillingness to change or even soften her routine, regardless of it being so persistently, internationally ridiculed, is weirdly comforting. In our unpredictable world, here is something we can count on: Meghan will be like this, come what may. We will forever know where we are with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her brand, a point that will certainly come as a relief: you don't have to. We don't have the draft anymore, and if there were, it would be unlikely to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you willingly check it out and are gripped with longing about her idyllic Christmas, you can take solace either. Whether you're a royal or a office worker, hardly any child completely grasps the effort and hard work their parent expends in December. So you can console yourself by envisioning Archie and Lilibet's faces when they reveal a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, rather than a sweet treat.
