Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in the recent mass shooting at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant carried on following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow online, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

What Happened

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”
